This Halloween, I had to throw something together super last minute (nothing new there!). So I decided, what could be more fun for someone who loves a make up challenge than a zombie. Originally, I really wanted to go for the zombie nurse, but I couldn't find a single Halloween costume anywhere, so I went for whatever was in my fancy dress box, which turned out to be a ... punk zombie? I don't really know to be honest, it just seemed Halloween-ey so I chucked it on.
Anyway I feel like the make up turned out pretty well. I used special fx wax from the local fancy dress store and I must say I wouldn't recommend it. The effect was nowhere near as good as I expected, and the damn stuff did not dry as my friend was told when she was convinced to buy it for me. You know what that means? It got increasingly slimy looking and itchy as the night went on, and not only did it melt out of place but it meant that everytime I touched my face I got a lump of gooey disgustingness going on. Also I could not place make up on top of the wound without smudging the shape, or if it was flat the make up just wouldn't go on at all. Not impressed. I originally wanted liquid latex, but the store didn't have any left, so will have to try that another time. For the blood I used snazaroo special fx theatre blood, which worked very well. It was thick, almost more like gel than runny, lasted well and stayed looking wet rather than turning into that 'worn off red face paint' look that most fake blood does after about 10 minutes. One tip though, DO NOT USE IT ON YOUR FACE! It came off everywhere with water, however I still have it on my face 3 days later, and I have used every product imaginable to try and get it off. Next time I think I will use the good old fashioned corn syrup mixture...
If you got this far, well done! You have made it to the exclusive anouncement. For the next 7-10 days I will be attempting to post daily as I take off on a solo adventure. Today, I am London with my mum, and will be not only taking pictures for my blog post, but filming for the first of several co-insiding vlogs. Then, this Thursday I will be flying to Barcelona for four nights on my own in a hostel! I'm finally kicking off my year of travel, adventure and change, and I want all of you along for the ride. So keep it locked to PuddyGeeks on blogger and YouTube :)
